The 19th gathered advocates and organizers for a timely look into the state of farmwork and policy in the United States. The first of two conversations dove into workers’ rights and the ongoing fight over labor policies, with a specific eye toward gender and racial equity. We focused on the women, LGBTQ+ people and children who make up a minority of farmworkers but have complex and ever-changing needs in the field.
The second conversation looked at the agriculture industry’s response to climate change and growing supply chain issues. From crafting an ethical food sourcing system to combating environmental threats, the leaders in this field are creating change that is far beyond the scope of what the public sees. We sat down with a few trailblazers to hear about what the future of farmwork looks like.
The event was simulcast in English and Spanish on June 28 thanks to our partner, Univision. If you’d like to watch our event in Spanish, watch here.
